Abstract

The current research, focusing on image schemas, seeks to find significant similarities and differences between these three fictions, the Patient Stone (in Persian), Sound and fury (in English) and Miramar (in Arabic). As the statistical analysis of the current research proves, the studied stories share the image schemas of "existence, containment, locomotion and force" with different frequencies. These similarities can confirm the universality of some image schemas used in the stories in question. On the other hand, the worldview and specific ethnic ideas of each nation has constructive role in creating a diverse intellectual atmosphere and cultural differences. By considering the importance of this point, it can be known that the frequency of differences in the use of some image schemas, which of course has a relative dominance over similarities in the three stories, shows the different use of schemas and the influence of cultural specificities on language and thought in different regions.
