Abstract
Irony is one of the methods of indirect expression of meaning. Ironic speech is the best tool for collapsing the hegemony of dominant discourses and grand narratives and highlighting neglected or marginal narratives. The influence of such emerging ideas in the Eastern culture is also evident in the field of novel writing, and for tracing such a current, the works of Muhammad Ali may be the best example due to his pioneering. Therefore, this essay, in a descriptive-analytical manner based on feminist criticism approaches, based on the novel "The Story of Tahmina", has come to the conclusion that Muhammad Ali, with an ironic, deconstructive attitude and an intellectual approach, tries to draw from the postmodernist style and school by presenting a feminine interpretation; But the funny and ironic of Rostam and Sohrab's saga and the old story of boyhood will redefine and revise that epic narrative and deconstruct the dual opposition of man/woman in Iranian society. This novel has rewritten the representation of the neglected role of women in the epic by humiliating and reflecting a ridiculous image of the prototypical male hero cotton wrestler (Rostam) in order to defeat the mental barriers of the patriarchal Iranian society, from the death of the male hero in the contemporary period and the formation of a critical current towards the epic. decode Although the novel's ironic foundation is based on structural irony; But for this purpose, he has used verbal irony and combining it with other types of irony.
